1. Purpose

The purpose of these regulations is to prescribe the review procedure and method of acceptance of academic papers submitted to the Korean Society of Nursing Simulation Proceedings (“the Society” hereinafter).

2. Appointment of reviewers

1) Manuscript reviewers are selected based on the following criteria: ① Those who have a doctoral degree in nursing or a related field
② A university professor or a person who is recognized as having the equivalent ability to examine the manuscript
2) Among those who do not meet the above qualifications, if deemed necessary for manuscript review of this journal, they may be appointed as reviewers through the resolution of the board of directors, on the recommendation of the chairman of the publication.
3) After the editor-in-chief nominates members who meet the criteria for reviewers, the Publishing Committee deliberates and selects them, and the president of the Society commissions the selected members after approval by the executive board.
4) The term of office for reviewers is two years, and they can be reappointed.
5) The number of thesis reviewers should be around 20, including English reviewers and English proofreaders. However, if the main concept of the manuscript is very unique and it is acknowledged that further specialized review is required, the editorial board may arbitrarily designate and request a special reviewer.

3. Manuscript review request

1) After the editorial board checks the qualifications for submission and the requirements for submission to the journal, the submitted manuscript is notified to the contributor in the name of the editor-in-chief.
2) The editorial board selects three reviewers who are appropriate for the main concept and research methodology of each manuscript, and then requests the manuscript review.
3) Reviewers primarily review English abstracts, and requests are made to those who speak English as their native language or those with a foreign degree in nursing.
4) In selecting reviewers, consideration is given to equal distribution by specific major area, concept, research method, and region.
5) For a fair review, reviewers belonging to the same institution as the contributor should be completely excluded.
6) Request the reviewers for review along with the following guidelines to ensure that the contributor’s personal information is not exposed. ① When reviewing, fill in the relevant blanks on the manuscript review evaluation sheet. Record the reviewers’ comments and review details on a separate sheet.
② Please refer to the submission guidelines when reviewing.
③ Please send the review evaluation sheet and the reviewed manuscript within ten days upon the receipt of the manuscript.
④ If it is necessary to exchange opinions among reviewers during the review, please contact the chairman of the publication.
⑤ Any information regarding manuscript review should be kept confidential.
⑥ For remittance of the review fee, it is recommended that the bank account number be specified and sent.

4. Review period

1) The reviewers must return the review results within ten days of the initial and re-review from the date of commissioning.
2) The reviewers must review the manuscript within ten days of receiving it after being commissioned for review and send the review results to the editorial board together with the manuscript.
3) If the reviewer does not send the review result after a certain period of time, it is regarded as giving up the review, and the editor-in-chief requests a third reviewer for review.

5. Review by reviewers

1) Papers are reviewed according to the evaluation criteria for quantitative and qualitative research.
2) The review results are written in the general review and review evaluation details. The final judgment is made as acceptance for publication, publication after revision, review after revision, or rejection. ① Papers judged to be acceptable (“acceptance”) are accepted without revision.
② For papers judged publication-ready after revision (“published after revision”), the author corrects the issues identified by the reviewers, and then the reviewers or the publishing committee confirm and accept them after the final review.
③ For “review after revision” papers, the authors correct the issues pointed out by the reviewers, and then the reviewers review the papers again to decide whether to accept them or not.
④ The designation “rejection” is reserved for cases in which the content of the manuscript is recognized as falling into any of the following categories: a. If the research topic is not original or lacks academic significance;
b. If the research results lack reliability or validity, or are not clear;
c. If it is judged that it is impossible to publish the manuscript even after significant revision;
d. If more than 30% of the items are evaluated as “very insufficient” in the evaluation result;
e. In case the ethics regulations of this journal and other research ethics are violated;
f. In other cases (reviewers and publishers must provide valid reasons for rejection).
⑤ If the author raises an objection to the review result, the author may request re-review by submitting a written statement of reason for objection within seven days from the date of the review result decision. If the editorial board recognizes that the reason is valid, a re-review may be conducted.
